Tension and Release, from Victor Niederhoffer

BeethovenI note that today's range in S&P of 11.2 was a 40 day low, the lowest since Monday, June 23. Such a low range fits in with music theory that talks about how certain intervals such as the 3, 4, 5, 6, are particularly flowery, while others, especially the 2 and 7, are hollow and bitter. I note that after the low ranges of 12 or less the standard deviations the next two days are about 2/3 as great as after the above 12 range days. Around the third day, there seems to be some new music in each case.
